  • 4/09/2005 : Inauguration meeting of the European Network of Materials Research Centres (ENMat) in Prague, Czech Republic, attended by 11 representatives from 7 European countries. Selection of the first President (Prof. Paul Kiekens, Centre for Materials Science and Engineering (CMSE)/ UGent, Belgium) and Vice-president (Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Faul, Centre of Excellence New Materials North Bavaria Ltd., Germany) of ENMat.

  • 11/04/2005 : First meeting with possible members in Ghent, Belgium at which the necessity to establish a European Network of Materials Research Centres was agreed upon and a document was drawn up with the mission, objectives and activities of the network.

  • 30/11/2004 : Preparatory meeting in Rome, Italy. Representatives of 4 organisations are interested in setting up a European Network of Materials Research Centres
